COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS:
Ms. Elsie's Caribbean B&B re-opened to welcome guests on July 1, 2020. While the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, we've been diligently working to offer you a place of respite with updated cleaning and sanitizing protocols. We are a small property, and cleanliness has always been a priority for us here at Ms. Elsie's Caribbean B&B. Yet, the COVID-19 virus has prompted us to take extra precautions to help keep us and our guests safe.
Under the City of Charlotte's current "Safer-at-Home Order," the request to wear face masks has been relaxed, and we are happy to announce that it is no longer required at the Inn. However, We ask that we honor "social distancing" by standing at least 6 feet from others when in public spaces.
What we are doing:
*-In addition to our standard procedures, we have implemented the following measures as suggested by the American Hotel and Lodging Association and our local Mecklenburg County health officials to help reduce the spread of the virus and to help safeguard your visit with us:
*-Although we no longer require guests to wear a face mask at the Inn, we ask guests to honor and maintain the 6ft-Social Distancing Rule in common areas when other guests are present.
*-Any Guest exposed to COVID-19 and or in contact with anyone who has experienced symptoms within 5 days prior to their visit is asked to notify us immediately and we'll cancel their reservation and reschedule for a later visit.
*-Any Guest feeling ill or showing symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever or chills, sore throat, congestion, or runny nose will be sent home and asked to quarantine themselves until they have been symptom-free for 5 days and notify us immediately of any positive testing for contact tracing.
*-Employees' temperatures will be monitored daily and sent home if their temperature is above normal.
*-Any employee feeling ill or showing symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever or chills, sore throat, congestion, or runny nose, will be sent home and asked to quarantine themselves until they have been symptom-free for 5 days.
*-"High" touch areas, such as doorknobs, handles, light switches, etc., in our common areas will be frequently cleaned and disinfected with CDC/EPA-approved disinfectants.
*-Hand sanitizer and/or disinfectant wipes will be provided for guests in our common areas.
*-Signage has been added to remind guests and employees to wash or sanitize their hands.
*-Upon checking out, the room keys can be left on the table or the innkeeper's entrance desk.
*-Nightly turn-down services are performed at check-in; however, daily room cleaning services have been suspended for guests who stay for less than 3 days to minimize cross-contamination. We ask that you place all trash in your room in a closed garbage bag provided outside your room door daily, and the staff will remove it immediately.
*-Rooms will be cleaned using CDC/EPA-approved disinfectants between guest stays.
*-We will continue individually serving our signature breakfast menu and honor dietary restrictions and concerns upon request.
*-We may offer wrapped desserts and snacks when available for our guests.
*-During the Summer, our outdoor areas are available for guests to relax and enjoy. *-We will frequently sanitize the outdoor common areas the same as the indoors.
*-Weather permitting, guests can enjoy island music, dance, play board games, ping pong,
putt-putt golf practice, hula hoop, and cornhole outdoors while practicing 6-ft social distancing.
As Innkeepers, hospitality is our business. During your stay, we promise to take great care of you with delicious island treats. We'll be happy to offer concierge recommendations, restaurant dining recommendations, and other suggestions as needed while you're visiting Charlotte.
As we work diligently to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all of our guests, we simply ask that you respect and honor our request while visiting with us:
*-If you begin to feel ill before you visit with us, please stay at home, take care of yourself, and seek medical attention if needed.
*-The mandatory request for guests to wear masks has been relaxed in Mecklenburg County and is no longer required. Guests at high risk of respiratory health concerns are always welcome to wear their masks in common areas and use them as needed. We ask that you please come prepared with your own mask if you must use one.

*-Again, if you are not feeling well, please stay home until you feel better.
